KEY INGREDIENTS
FAQ's
Can The Eczema Diet improve gut health and digestion?
Yes, it can. The Eczema Diet is a low-chemical, gut-friendly food program designed to support healthy digestion and relieve common gut symptoms. It’s naturally rich in prebiotic fibre to help nourish your gut microbiome, and when combined with the AM supplement (in this bundle), it provides targeted nutrients that assist with the repair of the gut wall lining. Together, they form a complete gut support system—ideal for people with eczema, food intolerances, or sensitive digestion.
What foods should I avoid if I have eczema?
While common allergens like dairy, eggs and wheat are often linked to eczema, recent research highlights another trigger: naturally occurring food chemicals. In a 2025 peer-reviewed study led by Skin Friend founder and clinical nutritionist Karen Fischer, 41% of people with eczema experienced significant improvement on a low-histamine diet. The study also pinpointed salicylates and amines—found in many healthy foods—as common culprits. This groundbreaking research supports the science behind The Eczema Diet and Skin Friend’s low-chemical approach to skin care and nutrition—helping you calm your skin from the inside out. What’s the difference between The Eczema Detox and The Eczema Diet?
Both books are written by nutritionist Karen Fischer, but they differ in focus and features. The Eczema Detox includes the Food Intolerance Diagnosis (FID) Program, which helps you pinpoint your personal food triggers—this alone can fast-track your results. Meanwhile, The Eczema Diet is Karen’s original eczema book. It dives deeper into the science behind eczema and diet, with foundational information many people find eye-opening. The Eczema Diet is similar to the detox program and is not as strict as the FID Program, so it's a great book to begin with. Many in our community find value in owning both books—for added recipes, tools and support.
Can I be vegan while following The Eczema Diet?
Yes, the diet includes plenty of vegan-friendly recipes, with even more available through the online membership. However, a vegan diet can increase the risk of nutritional deficiencies—particularly vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and glycine—so it’s important to take the AM and PM supplements while following the program for optimal results. The AM and PM supplements are included in this bundle, so we've got you covered.
Can I eat meat while following The Eczema Diet?
Yes, you can absolutely eat meat on The Eczema Diet. The program includes recipes with skin-friendly animal proteins such as lamb, beef, and skinless free-range chicken. These options are lower in amines and less likely to trigger eczema flares, making it easier to meet your protein and iron needs while supporting your skin and gut health. Based on Karen’s experience working closely with patients, people with eczema tend to improve faster on a meat-based diet compared to a vegan one.
What is the best diet for eczema and sensitive skin?
The most effective diet for eczema targets inflammation, supports gut microbiome health, and helps identify hidden dietary triggers—beyond simply taking generic probiotics or eliminating common allergens. In a 2025 peer-reviewed study led by Skin Friend founder and clinical nutritionist Karen Fischer, 41% of individuals with eczema experienced significant improvement on a low-histamine diet. The study also identified naturally occurring food chemicals—especially salicylates—as frequent contributors to eczema flares. However, many salicylate and histamine food lists are outdated, inaccurate, or nutritionally unbalanced, making them ineffective or unsustainable long term. That’s why The Eczema Diet offers a unique, science-based approach. Developed by a published eczema researcher and clinical nutritionist, it’s designed to reduce inflammation, restore gut balance, and nourish the skin from within. Now recommended by practitioners worldwide, it forms the foundation of a powerful, holistic program—especially when paired with Skin Friend’s AM and PM supplements for targeted nutritional support.
